How to play Letter Rows
Play Letter Rows
The rules
- The board has 8 columns and 10 rows of letter tiles.
- Swipe through touching tiles, also diagonally, to spell a word of 3 letters or more. A tile can be used once in a word.
- A word scores and its tiles drop out. The tiles above fall down. No new tiles come in.
- Lower the stack: each row the tallest column loses gives a row bonus. Clear the whole board for a big bonus.
- Score as much as you can before the clock runs out, or press Finish to end early.

Tips
- Long words score much more than short ones: a 6-letter word is worth seven 3-letter words.
- Clear tiles from the tallest columns first to earn row bonuses.
- A word that runs down a column or across a diagonal takes tiles from several rows at once.
FAQ
- Which words count?
- English words of three letters or more from our word list.
- Can I use the same word twice?
- Yes. Spell it again on other tiles and it scores again.
- What ends the game?
- The clock reaching zero, the Finish button, or an empty board. Your score is kept when the game ends, and your best score per level is saved on this device.
- Is there a new board every day?
- Yes. Each board is built from the date, so every day brings a new Letter Rows board at each of the four levels: easy, medium, hard and expert. Everyone gets the same board that day, and earlier boards are in the archive.
- Do I need an account to play?
- No. You play right in your browser, with no sign-up and no cookies. Your progress is saved in your browser.
