How embedding works
The rules
- Most white squares belong to one answer across and one answer down. Some belong to only one.
- Read a clue and type its answer into the grid. Where two answers cross, they share the letter.
- The puzzle is solved when every square holds the right letter.
How to play here
- Tap a square to select it. Tap it again to switch between across and down. The clue for the selected answer shows above the grid.
- Type with the on-screen keyboard under the grid or with your own keyboard. The selection moves on to the next square.
- Keyboard: the arrows move, Tab and Shift+Tab go to the next or previous clue, Space switches between across and down, Backspace erases.
- On a wide screen the clue lists show beside the grid.
- Undo takes back the last move, Check marks the wrong squares, and a hint shows where to look.

Tips
- Start with the clues you are sure of. Each answer gives you letters in the answers that cross it.
- Short answers are often the easiest way in.
- Stuck on one clue? Go to the crossing answers first, then come back with some letters filled in.
FAQ
- Which languages does it come in?
- Hebrew today, so the demo on this page plays in Hebrew, right to left. English is coming soon.
- How big is the grid?
- 11×11 at every level. The harder levels use harder clues.
- Do I get told when a letter is wrong?
- Not while you type. Use Check to mark the wrong squares, or a hint to see where to look, then a letter, then the whole answer.
- Is there a new puzzle every day?
- Yes. A new Crossword is published every day at each of the four levels: easy, medium, hard and expert. Earlier puzzles are in the archive.
- Do I need an account to play?
- No. You play right in your browser, with no sign-up and no cookies. Your progress is saved in your browser.
